 y 2024. Professor Andy Pike will give a talk on “Financialisation and lo
 cal statecraft: local government in England in austerity and centralisatio
 n\, 2010”. The seminar will beheld in the Ramsden Room at St Catharine
 ’s College from 6.00-7.30 pm. All are welcome. The seminar series is sup
 ported by the Cambridge Journal of Economics and the Economics and Policy 
 Group at the Cambridge Judge Business School.\n\nSpeaker Overview: \nProfe
 ssor Andy Pike is the Henry Daysh Professor of Regional Development Studie
 s in the Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies (CURDS) at Newc
 astle University. His research interests\, publications\, and research pro
 jects are focused on the geographical political economy of local\, regiona
 l\, and urban development\, governance\, and policy. He has undertaken res
 earch projects for the OECD\, UN-ILO\, European Commission\, UK government
 \, and national\, regional\, and local institutions. He is a Fellow of the
  Regional Studies Association and an Academician of the UK's national Acad
 emy of Social Sciences\n\nThis talk is part of the St Catharine's Politica
