DESCRIPTION:Fire resistance becomes an increasingly important aspect in st
ructural design. Concrete structures have a significant inherent resistanc
e to fire without special measures have to be taken. In general\, they als
o show a sufficient robustness which prevents premature collapse. In many
cases they can be reused after a fire with only minor repair or strengthen
ing. In the lecture all these aspects are discussed by means of several un
ique examples of real fires and the results of large scale fire tests. The
basic design approaches according to the Eurocodes will be explained and
attention will be paid to the overall structural response which influences
the boundary conditions of structural members.\n
