DESCRIPTION:Building decentralised renewable energy devices\, such as the 
 QR5 turbine\, is only the first step in solving society's need for sustain
 able energy. Intelligent integration of local energy "neighbourhoods" (con
 sisting of renewable energy sources and energy using systems) together wit
 h the electrical grid has many potential benefits which can increase the v
 alue of the overall system. In the longer term\, such intelligent integrat
 ion might even become mandatory to accommodate significantly higher levels
  of decentralised energy generation. This talk presents an introduction to
  the major issues and problems driving this work as well as some of the po
 tential solutions being explored by Quiet Revolution together with its par
 tners in the European SmartCoDe research project.
