DESCRIPTION:The performance of layered perovskites is dictated by the rich
excitonic landscape in these materials. In this talk\, I will explain how
excitons in these materials can be modelled and uncover the optical spect
ra\, phonon-mediated relaxation dynamics and exciton transport in layered
perovskites. In particular\, I will explain the peculiarly large emission
from perovskites at low temperatures\, elucidated through theory and exper
iment. Recent advances in synthesis have allowed our collaborators to crea
te moiré superlattices from perovskites. Here I will use my theoretical m
odel to explain the localisation of excitons observed in these novel twist
 ed systems.
