 rithmic trading has emerged as a game-changer\, enabling rapid execution\,
  data analysis\, and cost efficiency. In some markets it is already used f
 or around 70% of total orders.  However\, with greater dominance comes hig
 her responsibility. As the prevalence of algorithmic and high-frequency tr
 ading continues to surge\, supervisory bodies have stepped in to avert per
 ils associated with it.\n\nThis talk provides an introduction to the laws 
 governing Algorithmic & High Frequency Trading: from mitigating  the risks
  of system failures to ensuring transparency and protection of the markets
  and their participants\, the framework aims to uphold a balance between i
 nnovation\, legality and stability.\n\nWe shall explore the basics of the 
 regulatory landscape\,  covering the requirements imposed on credit instit
 utions\, investment firms\, and trading venues.  We will explain the ratio
 nale behind these regulations and their impact on the industry.  And we sh
 all identify the ground rules that every active algo-trader should be awar

 as provided advice to several countries internationally on matters of Inte
 rnational Trade Law. In his capacity as Regulatory Policy Lead of the Fore
 ign Office’s Global Trade Programme\, he has supported Indonesia on the 
 establishment of a financial market infrastructure sandbox and has supervi
 sed an e-Regulatory Governance system for capital markets in Mexico.  Prev
 iously he was Team Leader of the project for Russian Accession to the Worl
 d Trade Organisation and counselled Kyiv on the introduction of the MiFID 
 Directive into Ukrainian Law._\n\n_D. Floudas is Adj. Professor at the Law
  Faculty of Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University and Fellow of the Hell
