ryon Acoustic Oscillations and implications for cosmology - Licia Verde (U

DESCRIPTION:DESI represents the culmination of multi-years efforts and adv
anced spectroscopic techniques. Placed at Mayall 4-meter Telescope\, DESI
harnesses the power of 5\,000 robotic fiber positioners\, coupled with sta
te-of-the-art spectrographs\, to capture the spectral signatures of millio
ns of galaxies and quasars with unprecedented precision. DESI success is a
lso based on the collaborative spirit of its community\, more than 400 sci
entists over 72 institutions.\nThis data release corresponds to the first
year of observations\; it holds immense scientific promise across a multit
ude of fronts: from constraining cosmological parameters\, mapping the exp
ansion history of the Universe\, to the properties of dark energy and t
he properties of neutrinos. So far only Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO)
information has been fully analysed and made public. I will summarise th
e main findings and the implications for cosmology.
