DESCRIPTION:In this era of powerful telescopes such as VLT/SPHERE\, ALMA\
, and JWST\, we are now able to study the birth of planets in disks aroun
d young stars\, in more detail than ever before. These observations are pr
oviding important insights about the distribution of three important ingr
edients of planet formation: the very small particles (sub-micron sized gr
ains)\, pebbles (mm/cm-sized particles)\, and the gas disk reservoir. Thes
e observations reveal fascinating structures in protoplanetary disks which
morphology that may vary within these three ingredients. In this talk\, I
will overview the efforts from the community to link these recent observa
tions to models of planet formation to better understand the physical proc
ess that are governing the evolution of protoplanetary disks\, including:
 embedded planets\, photoevaporation\, viscous evolution\, among others\; a
nd how these conditions can be reflected in the large diversity of extraso
 lar systems observed up today.
