DESCRIPTION:Aim:Joan Milne\, Head of Service Transformation at CPFT will s
hare the transformation story\, the care pathways that were developed\, th
e lean methodology used and the learning from the process. All of this tr
ansformational change was done whilst still providing patient care and wit
hout the benefit of research – Joan will pose the question “could it h
ave been done differently”?\n\nBackground:In January 2007\, Cambridgeshi
re and Peterborough nhs Foundation Trusts Board decided to undertake a wid
e-ranging service transformation programme across all Trust services. The
re were four reasons for this:\n\n * Commissioners felt that some of ou
r services no longer reflected ‘best practice’\n * There were unacc
eptable variations in service provision across the Trust due to different
historical levels of investment by predecessor PCT’s\n * The Trust Bo
ard wanted a more strategic approach to delivering annual cost improvement
programmes.\n * The Trust Board wanted to make service transformation
the driving force behind the development of its integrated business plan f
or its application for Foundation Trust (FT) status
