DESCRIPTION:This paper explores the political consequences of land inequal
ity. We turn to the paradigmatic cases of Prussia as the locus classicus o
f the pernicious effects of landlordism and Sweden\, often perceived to be
Prussia’s opposite with a farmer-dominated social structure leading to
stable democratization during the late nineteenth and early twentieth cent
uries. Contrary to prevailing theories associating land inequality with an
ti-democratic attitudes\, the results indicate no positive correlation bet
ween different measures of land inequality and electoral support for the c
onservative and Nazi parties. For our analysis\, we collect comparable reg
ional data on land inequality measures and voting outcomes for both countr
 ies.\n\nJoin us on Zoom:\nhttps://cam-ac-uk.zoom.us/j/81628787646?pwd=QkNC
