DESCRIPTION:Ambient fine particulate matter air pollution exposure is the
leading environmental health risk factor\, responsible for several million
deaths per year globally. A very large number of sources contribute to th
is ambient air pollution\, and decisions to control sources need to consid
er the tradeoffs between source control costs and health benefits. Here\,
we look at how health risks from air pollution are estimated and used to i
nform decisions about emission controls\, with an example about vehicle em
issions\, and begin to explore what opportunities might exist for AI to im
prove decision-making about air pollution controls in the future.
