DESCRIPTION:The seminar reports on and discusses a collaborative pilot stu
 dy of using authentic picturebooks in English with Norwegian 6th graders. 
 The study is based on a reading project involving two teacher trainees\, a
  class of Norwegian 6th graders and their teacher. The study draws on clas
 sroom-based research and evidence-based practice\, as well as current moti
 vational theory\, picturebook research and theories of second language lea
 rning.  \n\nAnna Birketveit is a senior lecturer in English at Bergen Univ
 ersity College\, with a special research interest in children's literature
  as a vehicle for foreign language learning. \n
