DESCRIPTION:Evolving environmental sensing technologies present a myriad o
f opportunities for gathering data to understand and promote environmental
justice\, biodiversity\, and climate change mitigation. However\, technic
al development from academic and commercial settings often struggles to tr
anslate to accessible solutions for marginalized communities. In this talk
\, I will explore the opportunities of partner-driven co-design\, share th
e findings from a qualitative study of field scientists’ use of technolo
gy\, and present a case study of designing environmental sensors with Indi
genous Ojibwe scientists for manoomin (wild rice) conservation.
