DESCRIPTION:We start by describing fusion systems of finite groups\, of bl
 ocks of modular group algebras\, and then the abstract notion of saturated
  fusion systems\, going back to work of Puig in the early 1990s. This conc
 ept sits right at the intersection of modular representation theory and ho
 motopy theory\, drawing on homological methods\, as well as in addition on
  methods from&nbsp\;commutative algebra. While the bulk of these two talks
  are about&nbsp\;describing the connections between the above mentioned ar
 eas\, we will finish with some concrete calculations and conjectures for s
 ymmetric group algebras.
