DESCRIPTION:Astronomical surveys have expanded to such vast scales that hu
man analysis alone is no longer sufficient. Instead\, we increasingly rely
on machine learning algorithms to sift through data and identify sources
of objects of interest. When harnessed effectively\, these technologies ar
e extraordinarily powerful. This talk will explore how AI systems have bee
n integrated into the Deeper\, Wider\, Faster program\, dramatically reduc
ing the workload of astronomers through both supervised and unsupervised l
earning methods. We will also discuss the broader implications for the pro
fession of astronomy and what it means to be an astronomer in this new era
  of big data.
