DESCRIPTION:Daniel Tammet is an essayist\, poet\, novelist\, translator\, 
 autistic savant and synesthete.\n\nHe is the European Champion for memoris
 ing Pi which he did to 22\,514 decimal places. He speaks a dozen languages
  and learnt conversational Icelandic within a week. He can perform astonis
 hing arithmetic calculations quicker than it takes to input into a calcula
 tor.\n\nHis forthcoming book _Nine Minds: Inner Lives on the Spectrum_ del
 ves into the extraordinary lives of nine neurodivergent men and women from
  around the globe.\n\nIn his talk Daniel will explore the tired stereotype
 s of autism. His stories reach across the divides of age\, gender\, sexual
 ity and nationality to draw out the inner worlds of his subjects. Telling 
 stories as richly diverse as the spectrum itself\, this illuminating\, lif
 e-affirming work of narrative nonfiction celebrates the power and beauty o
 f the neurodivergent mind\, and the daring freedom with which these indivi
 duals have built their lives.\n\nHe is also the author of How to be ‘Nor
 mal\, Portraits\, Every Word is A Bird We Teach to Sing\, Thinking in Numb
 ers\, Embracing the Wide Sky\, and the New York Times bestseller Born On A
  Blue Day. Tammet is Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). He lives
