DESCRIPTION:This talk will describe some uses of droplet microfluidics for
biomedical and biotechnological applications. I will describe a next gene
ration form of droplet digital microfluidics. The concept is based on sepa
rately detecting the number of positive drops\, which is typically used as
a super sensitive measure of concentration\, and the contents of those dr
ops. This extends the sensitivity of ddPCR to enable identification of man
y other targets simultaneously. I will also describe the use of microfluid
ics in creating improved delivery structures for nanomedicines.
