DESCRIPTION:In this talk we will give a comprehensive survey of a family o
f solutions of the focusing nonlinear Schr&ouml\;dinger equation called ge
neral rogue waves of infinite order. These solutions have recently been sh
own to describe various limit processes involving large-amplitude waves\,
and they have also appeared in some physical models not directly connected
with nonlinear Schr&ouml\;dinger equations. In this talk\, we will define
these solutions\, establish their basic exact and asymptotic properties\,
and show computational tools for calculating them accurately. This is joi
nt work with Peter D. Miller.
