DESCRIPTION:Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a debilitating and dys
 functional psychological response to the experience of extremely threateni
 ng events. This talk will begin by outlining a broadly cognitive model of 
 human emotions. This will then be used as a context to explore how the emo
 tion system is disrupted by the experience of extreme events along various
  continua giving rise to conditions such as PTSD. Finally\, treatment of P
