DESCRIPTION:There has been considerable interest in Coulomb branches\, i.e
 . (singular)hyperkaehler manifolds which arise as certain irreducible comp
 onents of moduli spacesof vacua in N=4 supersymmetric quantum gauge theori
 es. For a restricted class of theories\,Coulomb branches have been rigouro
 usly constructed\, as affine Poisson varieties\,by Braverman\, Finkelberg\
 , and Nakajima. This construction has been subsequentlyextended to a more 
 general class of theories by several authors. In my talk I shallpresent an
  alternative construction\, which\, in addition to being simpler\, yields 
 the fullhyperkaehler structure of Coulomb branches. This is joint work wit
 h Lorenzo Foscolo.
