DESCRIPTION:Calabi-Yau metrics depend on the choice of the complex structu
 re and the Kahler class\, and a central problem is to describe the limitin
 g behaviour of the metric. I will give a survey talk about what can happen
  in a range of examples\, with some emphasis on the 'large complex structu
 re limit'\, which is the context of the Strominger-Yau-Zaslow conjecture.
