DESCRIPTION:The effects of QCD initial-state radiation on a class of varia
 bles designed to probe the scale of new physics at hadron colliders are ex
 amined using collinear resummation. The variables in question are 'global'
  and 'inclusive' since they involve all transverse and longitudinal inform
 ation\, without making any assumptions on production or decays\, and witho
 ut any exclusive event reconstruction. The effect of invisible particle em
 ission is considered and the method is applied for top and gluino pair pro
 duction at the LHC.
