DESCRIPTION:Affective Matter addresses the development and use of programm
 able wearable materials for the purpose of emotion-self regulation. Materi
 als can provide somatosensory feedback in response to physiological change
 s of the wearers’ body\, such as the wearer’s breathing rate\, impacti
 ng the wearer’s calmness or alertness. The somatosensory feedback is pro
 duced through material shape-change through pneumatic actuation and/or tem
 perature change. The presentation will demonstrate the process and results
  of case studies using affective sleeves made from programmable fabrics.
