DESCRIPTION:Shear testing is more challenging than testing other forms of 
 deformation.  It would be very convenient to be able to conduct a shear te
 st using simple compression in a UTM\, however this is only possible with 
 the right sample geometry.  I will present several improvements to existin
 g sample geometries based on research I conducted in the PCS group.
