DESCRIPTION:How is science produced? How do scientists collaborate? Can in
novation be nurtured? Can scientific breakthroughs be predicted? Quantitat
ive science studies is a discipline that examines papers\, collaborations\
, researchers\, patents\, and scientific events to address these questions
. It designs indicators and applies models to analyze these elements. Init
ially devised to study science\, some of these methods have since been app
lied in evaluating and monitoring scientific activities for effective mana
gement and strategic planning. This talk will provide an overview of the d
iscipline\, exploring its key research questions and current progress.
