DESCRIPTION:Canonical dimension is an integral invariant for modules over
a ring. Whilst defined cohomologically\, it can often be calculated geomet
rically or asymptotically\, meaning it frequently captures information fro
m other well-known dimensions. In this talk\, I'll exploit its properties
to describe mod p representations of p-adic groups. The main tool is an an
alogue of Bernstein's inequality for Iwasawa algebras.
