SUMMARY:Black holes: weather and landscape - Alexander Blustin (University
of Cambridge\; IoA and Darwin College)
DTSTART:20100121T130000Z

CONTACT:Dr James Kirkbride
DESCRIPTION:Following on from last week's talk on phenomena very close to
a supermassive black hole\, I will widen the focus to look at the structur
e of a black hole's immediate environment. In particular\, I will look at
what we know about plasma winds driven by black hole activity\, and their
potential cosmological role in mediating black holes' relationships with t
heir host galaxies. Finally\, I will present recent results which appear t
o provide a new piece of the puzzle in understanding the origins of these
 winds.
