DESCRIPTION:Nitrile latex gloves are ubiquitous in labs and health care se
 ttings. They are made via a dipping process which is energy intensive. The
  strength of such gloves is shown to come from crosslinking of multi valen
 t cations used in their production process and Zinc is typically compounde
 d into the raw material. Here we show the role of different cations and ex
 plore the resulting film strength. A system which uses calcium rather than
  zinc is proposed
