DESCRIPTION:We will discuss the geometric inverse problem of finding a\nRi
emannian metric on a manifold-with boundary\, from knowledge of the\nlens
map: Assume we know the exit point and length for any geodesic\nthat is sh
ot into a manifold from its boundary in any direction\, can we\nreconstruc
t the metric? Can local metric reconstruction be performed\nfrom local len
s data? If the whole metric cannot be reconstructed\, how\nmuch of it can?
Is the reconstruction stable? We present recent work on\nthese questions\
, for 2-dimensional metrics. Some brief discussion the\nrelation of this
work with wave inverse problems will also be provided.\nJoint work with Ma
 tti Lassas.
