DESCRIPTION:When an intense laser interacts with a gas of atoms\, high-ord
er harmonics are generated. In the time domain\, this radiation forms a tr
ain of extremely short light pulses\, of the order of 100 attoseconds. Att
osecond pulses allow the study of the dynamics of electrons in atoms and m
olecules\, using pump-probe techniques. This presentation by 2023 Nobel La
ureate in Physics Prof. Anne L'Huillier will highlight some of the key ste
ps of the field of attosecond science.
