DESCRIPTION:This Cambridge Immunology Network Seminar will take place on T
hursday 23 January 2025\, starting at 4:00pm\, in the Ground Floor Lecture
Theatre\, Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre (JCBC)\n\nSpeaker: Dr. James Th
 aventhiran\, MRC Toxicology Unit\, Cambridge\n\nTitle: "Converging Forces:
How Rare Variants\, Common Variants\, and Environmental Factors Shape Imm
unological Responses"\n\nSummary:\nUnderstanding the immune system require
s unravelling the complex interplay of genetic and environmental influence
 s. This talk explores how rare genetic variants\, common genetic polymorph
isms\, and environmental factors converge to drive shared immunological ou
tcomes. By integrating insights from population genetics\, functional geno
mics\, and our studies in obesity\, we reveal the mechanisms through which
these elements collectively influence immune responses. Highlighting cutt
ing-edge research and computational models\, the discussion will emphasise
the implications for disease susceptibility\, immune regulation\, and the
rapeutic interventions. Join us as we illuminate this intricate web of int
eractions that underpin health and immunity.\n\nHost: Dr Ondrej Suchanek\,
NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Renal Medicine\, University of Cambridge\n\nRef
reshments will be available following the Seminar.
