DESCRIPTION:Quantum relative entropy is a fundamental measure in quantum i
 nformation theory. The key property behind its wide applications is the mo
 notonicity over quantum channels\, called data processing inequality. In t
 his talk\, I will present an improved data processing inequality that rela
 tive entropy becomes strictly smaller for GNS symmetric quantum channel. A
 s an application\, this gives a tight relative entropy decay rate of quant
 um Markov semigroups. \nThis talk is based on a joint work with Marius Jun
 ge\, Nicholas LaRacuente and Haojian Li.\n\n
