DESCRIPTION:Kaplansky's zero divisor conjecture predicts that the group al
 gebra of a torsion-free group with coefficients in an arbitrary field has 
 no zero devisors. In this talk\, we will survey the status of the conjectu
 re\, and discuss a proof that group algebras of fundamental groups of 3-ma
 nifolds embed into division rings. This is joint with Pablo Sánchez-Peral
