DESCRIPTION:Sex chromosomes represent the only chromosome pair that differ
between males and females\, and as such are responsible for the myriad se
xual dimorphisms observed in mammals. However\, relative to the rest of th
e genome\, their biology remains under explored. In this talk\, I will des
cribe how the sex chromosomes appeared during mammalian evolution\, the me
chanisms by which they regulate their most celebrated role in germline dev
elopment\, and their contribution to male-female differences in disease.
