DESCRIPTION:Experiments using high-power lasers that investigate\nradiatio
 n transfer have been undertaken for many years. \nWe shall summarise diffe
 rent experimental approaches that\nhave been used and consider what has be
 en learned from\nthose experiments which include studies of diffusive \nen
 ergy flow and line radiation transfer both in static\nplasmas and where th
 ere is a large plasma velocity gradient.  We conclude with a discussion of
  recent theoretical work studying the effect of plasma geometry on line ra
 diation transfer\, together with its application to astrophysical observat
 ions and laboratory experiments.\n\n\n
