DESCRIPTION:Cosmic Ray physics\, as a branch of particle-astrophysics\, is
  a very \nlively topic. The study of cosmic rays however\, is usually done
  with \nconceptually simple techniques. These techniques can be explained 
 to \nhigh school students\, who can even create simple cosmic ray detector
 s. \nBy creating a high school air shower array\, students learn to \ncoll
 aborate as if they were participating in a scientific endeavor. In \nthis 
 colloquium I will expand on HiSPARC and other cosmic-ray related \noutreac
 h activities in the Netherlands.\n\n
