DESCRIPTION:Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is the most prevalent endocri
ne disorder affecting women\, characterized by hyperandrogenism and metabo
lic disturbances. Daughters of women with PCOS are exposed to elevated an
drogen levels during two critical developmental windows: prenatal life and
puberty. This "double hit" may disrupt key brain networks\, particularly
the prefrontal cortex and limbic system\, impairing social cognition and
increasing vulnerability to mental health issues. Using a translational ap
proach\, this presentation will go through animal and human models that ex
plore the impact of androgen exposure on behavior\, brain connectivity\, a
nd gene expression. Our findings aim to reveal biomarkers and mechanisms d
riving these effects\, paving the way for early identification and interve
 ntions for at-risk individuals.
