DESCRIPTION:Amidst burgeoning evidence for the beauty\, strength\, fragili
ty and flux of our natural world\, and global efforts to protect its futur
e survival\, the UKRI-funded ‘Rewilding’ later prehistory project is b
uilding a positive archaeological account of human-landscape relationships
in Britain. This talk presents initial project work to gather and interpr
et a substantial body of evidence for prehistoric wildlife (from 2500 BCE
to 43 CE) and to make this evidence fit for future research. It asks what
wildlife was in prehistoric Britain\, if and how wildlife mattered to peop
le in the past\, and why archaeological characterisations of wildlife are
relevant for current attempts to recover nature.\n\nJoin online: https://b
