DESCRIPTION:Whilst the study of low degree algebraic points on curves is a
 n active area of research\, there has been little emphasis on the Galois-t
 heoretic description of these points. In this talk\, we focus on the behav
 iour of low degree points whose Galois group is primitive. Furthermore\, w
 e shall see that the behaviour changes if the degree is large (with respec
 t to the genus of the curve). This talk is based on joint work with Samir 
 Siksek (Warwick).
