DESCRIPTION:\nI'll introduce families of groups with nice algebraic and ho
 mological\nproperties.  I refer to them as "wired" because there are nice\
 npictorial presentations in terms of blocks sliding along taut wires.\nThe
 se have a strong resemblance to pure braid diagrams and indeed the\npure b
 raid groups are motivating examples.  When we take the homology\nthe block
 s reappear as labels on vertices of trees.  I'll give an\nexplanation.  Fo
 r the majority of the talk only the basics of group\ntheory will be requir
 ed so it should be accessible.\n
