DESCRIPTION:The COVID-19 experience\, along with the shifting geopolitical
  climate\, is challenging global cooperation and collaboration in health s
 ecurity. New alliances amongst nations are forming\, while some nations ar
 e reorienting their disease governance away from multilateral institutions
 . Meanwhile\, bilateral funding in global health is drying up and global f
 inancing mechanisms are competing for the same development assistance doll
 ars. This talk will discuss the current state of global health security an
 d pandemic preparedness\, review the challenges to global health governanc
 e\, and identify potential opportunities going forward.\n\nRebecca Katz\, 
 PhD MPH\, is a professor and director of the Center for Global Health Scie
 nce and Security at Georgetown University\, where she is jointly appointed
  in the Medical Center and the School of Foreign Service. From 2004 until 
 2024\, Dr. Katz was also a senior advisor and expert consultant at the U.S
 . Department of State.
