DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, we explore challenges in quantum information th
eory using ideas from transcendental number theory and real algebraic geom
etry\, focusing on distinguishing semialgebraic structures from transcende
ntal ones. We examine when asymptotic settings\, infinite resources\, or t
ranscendental methods are necessary for quantum information processing\, a
nd when single-letter formulas\, finite resources\, or algebraic technique
s suffice. We consider the (im)possibility of single-letter formulas by an
alyzing the properties of various entropy-constrained sets. Furthermore\,
we investigate the geometry of the set of reduced states of translation-in
variant infinite quantum spin chains\, exploring whether an exact algebrai
c characterization of this set exists.
