DESCRIPTION:This is based on a joint work with Emeric Bouin and Luca Zivia
ni. I am going to talk about a kinetic model describing run and tumble che
motaxis. In this model the bacteria respond to an external chemical signal
by changing the rate at which they change direction depending on whether
they are going up or down the gradient of the chemical signal. This a very
unusual mechanism for producing spatial confinement. I will talk about ho
w and why the steady state depends on the velocity domain and how this eff
ects rates of convergence to equilibrium.
