DESCRIPTION:Amongst the site’s almost clichéd Late Bronze Age domestici
ty\, the roundhouses and the pots\, a remarkable collection of animal bone
was found\, revealing how the community engaged with the environment arou
nd them\, the animals and their foodways. From the time of agricultural in
tensification\, where livestock was reared and food was domestic\, the unu
sually ‘wild’ Must Farm faunal assemblage casts new light on the domes
tic life in this swampy landscape. Perfectly captured in time\, the richne
ss of evidence also allowed us to get at how the food was collected\, prep
ared and consumed. This talk covers the methods and the results of the zoo
archaeological analysis\, it explores the food choices and the relationshi
p with animals in the site’s broader setting.
