DESCRIPTION:Abstract:\n\nRobots often exhibit overly conservative behaviou
r\, leading to sluggish operations and reduced efficiency. The Mobile Robo
tics Group develops tools to balance efficient and safe operation. We focu
s on predicting and anticipating human behaviour in open-world interaction
s\, such as walking and crossing the street. Environmental factors like tr
affic are also considered. Our findings apply to autonomous driving and fl
eet coordination. By anticipating human actions at multiple levels\, we ai
m to optimize safety and efficiency. This presentation will detail our met
hods and real-world applications\, bridging the gap between safety and eff
iciency for autonomous systems.\n\nSpeakers bio:\n\nTomasz Kucner is an As
sistant Professor leading the Mobile Robotics Group in the Department of E
lectrical Engineering and Automation at Aalto University in Espoo\, Finlan
 d. His research focuses on enabling autonomous intelligent systems to effi
ciently and safely operate in the noisy and dynamic reality of shared huma
 n-robot environments. \n
