DESCRIPTION:FREE ENTRY\n\nIs the jury still out on genetically-modified (G
 M) crops\, even after all these years of scientific advancement and ethica
l debate? Does the recent economic\ncrisis and increasing environmental da
mage justify a worldwide uptake of GM crops?\n\nSome claim that corporate
GM agriculture is 'more spin than substance'\, while others claim that eve
n humanitarian GM projects are ultimately an attempt to\ngenerate profit f
rom the global poor. But with scientific agreement on the fact that we fac
e imminent worldwide food and water shortages\, something must be\ndone if
we are to avert rising food prices\, environmental degradation and social
instability.\n\nWhy should the public support GM crops? Under what circum
stances might they be acceptable? Does the public have another option? Fin
d out more at this event.\n\nRefreshments will be available after the talk
