DESCRIPTION:On a background Minkowski spacetime\, the Euler equations (bot
 h relativistic and not) are known to develop shock singularities in finite
 -time from smooth data. Such shock formation can be suppressed on cosmolog
 ical spacetimes whose spatial slices expand at an accelerated rate. Howeve
 r\, situations with decelerated expansion\, which are relevant in our earl
 y universe\, are not as well understood. I will present some recent joint 
 work in this direction\, based on collaborations with David Fajman\, Macie
 j Maliborski\, Todd Oliynyk and Max Ofner.
