DESCRIPTION:Dr. Lechowick will reflect on the practice of ethnography in t
he aftermath of the Sinjar Genocide\, drawing from four years of work with
Ezidi women in Khanke IDP Camp\, northern Iraq. He will explore how trust
\, positionality\, and everyday life shaped a methodology grounded in long
-term\, relational engagement rather than extractive interviews. Central t
o the discussion is how Ezidi women\, often framed solely as victims\, art
iculate agency\, identity\, and transformation in the shadow of atrocity.
The talk also considers the ethical responsibilities of researching in eme
rgencies and the complexities of representing subaltern voices with care.\
