DESCRIPTION:Arnold conjectured that the number of fixed points of a Hamilt
 onian diffeomorphism on a closed symplectic manifold M must (generically) 
 be at least as large as the minimal number of critical points of a Morse f
 unction on M. We will give a brief introduction to Hamiltonian dynamics an
 d symplectic geometry. Then we will review some of the known cases of the 
 Arnold conjecture and sketch their proofs.
