DESCRIPTION:This seminar is based on an essay written last year during par
 t III of the mathematical tripos. The\nconcept of non-locality in quantum 
 mechanics is introduced with a brief\ndescription of the EPR-Bohm experime
 nt and the CHSH inequality.\nNon-locality beyond quantum mechanics is pres
 ented in terms of\ncorrelation  boxes. These are abstract hypothetical sys
 tems that can be\nseparated by arbitrary large distances but that maintain
  some\ncorrelations. Bipartite  and tripartite correlation boxes are descr
 ibed.\nAlthough quantum mechanics violates the CHSH inequality\, it does n
 ot\nviolate it to its maximum value.  Some bipartite correlation boxes\, t
 he\nPR boxes\, do violate the CHSH  inequality to its maximum algebraical\
 npossible value. The usefulness of the PR boxes in key distribution is\npr
 esented.\n
