DESCRIPTION:Unlike the situation with nonconductive polymers where variety
of polymer architectures (block copolymers\, polymer brushes\, start\, et
c.) are readily available\, a synthetic toolbox is much less developed in
the case of conjugated (conductive) polymers. Recently\, we developed\nsur
face/site-initiated Ni- and Pd-mediated catalyst transfer chain-growth pol
ycondensations. To date\, methods to grow conductive polymer brushes\, hai
ry particles and stars of regioregular poly(3-alkylthiophenes)\, polyfluor
enes and other conjugated polymers were developed. In this talk I would li
ke to review our recent results in this field\, including application of t
he obtained structures in photovoltaics and discuss an intriguing ring-wal
king polycondensation\nmechanism\, responsible for the selective formation
  of such structures.
